We carefully wind up each line set for an absolute minimum of twists in the lines so when you first set up, take care not to let the ends spin or get mixed up and you should be able to simply connect both straps / handles directly, stake them off, pull both lines tight to separate them, then go back to your stake without trying to “untangle” what appear to be twists, then hold and rotate your straps / handles together with the lines tight until they comes apart.
In our experience of 30+ years, it is extremely rare that even the best pilots are able to unwind with zero twists in the lines due to small variables during winding and unwinding, but it is possible to keep it to an easily undone minimum of just a few twists.
